RM’s comments on V’s past weight spark debates among fans, right after Jimmy Fallon interview with BTS

Fans debate RM’s remark as BTS returns to late-night television

RM sparks discussion after a comment about V

BTS appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 25, 2026, and one moment from the interview quickly sparked controversy online. During a segment about what the members missed most about one another during military service, RM talked about fellow member V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung. The rapper and group leader stated he missed how skinny Taehyung used to be before his military service. Then, he explained that V had become more muscular while serving and briefly acted out the change with a gesture during the interview. His remarks spread quickly across social media and became a major discussion point among fans shortly after the episode aired.

“I missed his… when he was really skinny because he got… he because he became around 86 kg in the military. Now he’s slim again.”

Fans react with mixed opinions to RM’s statement

ARMY (that is the name the BTS fandom wears proudly) had different reactions to RM’s words. Some people felt the remark was unnecessary because it focused too much on V’s body and appearance. Others said the comment made them uncomfortable, especially since V was not overweight. Then, many ARMYs also shared that they liked V’s past stronger build during his military era and said they missed that version of him. At the same time, some viewers did not see the comment as harmful and viewed it as a casual conversation between close friends. Regardless, the debate continued online, with many fans debating whether public comments about a person’s body should be made so casually.
