Famous Rivardale actor tried to end the life of Canada’s prime minister
After Riverdale actor Ryan Grantham turned himself in to authorities in March of this year and confessed to shooting his mother Barbara Waite to death while the 64-year-old was playing the piano at her home in Squamish, Canada, the court has now determined the 24-year-old actor’s sentence.
In the trial that took place in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, several details were revealed that left many in shock, including the possibility that the famous man could receive a conditional release after being at least 14 years in prison, even though he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
It was also determined that for the rest of his life, Ryan Grantham will have to stay away from all types of firearms, for the charge and second-degree murder. Meanwhile, the actor’s lawyer, Chris Johnson, justified that the young man has changed the course of his life after the attack against his mother.
“He has received a lot of psychological help and has felt bad about his actions and dealt with them.
But he hopes to devote the rest of his life to making amends,” said the actor’s lawyer, prior to justifying that Grantham did not want his mother to witness the attack he planned against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
It should be noted that some images that the actor himself recorded before and after taking the life of his mother were also shown, where he is seen acting as he was going to commit the crime and armed with three pistols, ammunition, Molotov cocktails, camping equipment and a map with directions that led him to the Canadian Prime Minister.
According to a reenactment of the events, Grantham left Squamish the day after the attack, with his mother’s body inside the vehicle and before leaving the crime scene he tested some bombs he had at his disposal and then drove more than 50 hours to Hope County, where he stopped to think about whether or not he would continue his mission
After changing his plans several times, the famous actor changed his route again and went to the Vancouver police department and confessed to his crime.
At the trial hearing, prosecutor Michaela Donnelly presented two psychiatric reports on the mental state of the young man, who played Jeffrey Augustine in ‘Riverdale’, where it was proven that the celebrity was going through moments of severe depression, as well as a cannabis use disorder.
