A few hours ago, Queen Camilla sparked outrage over a photo with J.K. Rowling during Pride Month at their meeting at Holyroodhouse, Scotland, in support of childhood reading initiatives.
On June 30th, the Queen updated the royal family social networks with a new photo alongside the “Harry Potter” author with a message expressing their “shared passion for books and a deep commitment to children reading for pleasure.”
“Her Majesty and Ms. Rowling discussed the importance of ensuring that young people have access to books and the vital part reading plays in opening doors for future generations.”
Despite the positive initiative of this reunion, some netizens found this meeting disrespectful to take place in Pride Month due to J.K. Rowling’s previous anti-trans comments in 2020, generating negative reactions and hitting Queen Camilla and the royal family with backlash.
Some comments in the original post on X were:
“Here’s a real Queen 👇. No surprise Camilla is a terf. She’s got ‘the look’. Diana on the other hand would have 100% been on the side of trans people 🏳️⚧️ #Nasty”
“Trans rights are human rights
Abolish the monarchy”
“Not the first time your family has collaborated with people trying to eradicate minorities, but I guess it’s nice to know you’re carrying on the tradition”
“The Royal Family standing proudly with probably the biggest trans hate preacher in the world. Shows how out of touch the monarchy is. Tick-tock ⏰.”
