According to a new book from a royal author, Queen Camilla believed Kate Middleton was not fit to marry a future king due to her humble family lineage.
In his new book titled “Kate!” Christopher Andersen explores the Princess of Wales’s rise from commoner status to future queen as well as her tumultuous relationship with the current Queen Camilla, who was one of her fiercest critics.
“She didn’t consider her up to the task, so to speak. She wasn’t good enough. She didn’t have aristocratic blood.”
According to the author, King Charles‘ wife always saw herself as the mistress, since in her ideology a future king of England should marry a member of the royal family or a British aristocrat following royal tradition, and Kate was neither.
Camilla objected to Kate’s working-class origins as the daughter of a commercial airline pilot and a former flight attendant who later built a successful party supply business. The queen is a descendant of the Stuart dynasty who has moved in royal circles all her life.
“In reality, the royal family didn’t want her. People like Camilla didn’t want her because they thought she was too common to be the wife of a future king. And, of course, the British press was ruthless, portraying her family as a bunch of boors.”
However, the current monarch was not prepared for the popularity that Kate Middleton would achieve as an active member of the royal family: “Somehow, as the British say, she never put her foot in it. And today, as a result, she is admired by practically everyone.”
