A chaotic podcast confession
Queen Camilla Parker’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has zero interest in becoming a prince, and he made that very clear on the October 21, 2025, episode of the Good Food podcast. Speaking with host Samuel Goldsmith, the food writer and restaurant critic joked about what would happen if he suddenly claimed a royal title after his mother, Queen Camilla, became queen.

“Buckingham Palace would be stormed”
When Goldsmith teased the idea of asking for a prince title, Tom responded with humor and honesty. He said the public would revolt and that Buckingham Palace gates would be stormed if he suddenly became Prince Tom. According to him, it would be terrible for the monarchy and undo years of progress.
“I think we’re fairly balanced and sober and sensible country on the whole, but if I suddenly became prince, I think Buckingham Palace gates would be stormed. It would be appalling. Really, no… I think that would put back the long and glorious cause of the monarchy in Britain by many years, no.”
Living life outside the crown
Tom, who is 51 years old, is Queen Camilla’s son with her former husband Andrew Parker Bowles and brother to Laura Lopes, who is 47 years old. When King Charles and Camilla married in 2005, Tom became stepbrother to Prince William and Prince Harry, but both Tom and Laura live away from the royal spotlight. Their two rarest royal appearances were in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral and in May 2023 for the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
