The late Princess of Wales gave a powerful interview in November 1995, in which she spoke about her husband’s infamous affair, then Prince Charles, her struggles with mental health, bulimia, self-harm, and other difficult topics that have helped women around the world.

After this interview, Princess Diana received a supportive message from a fan named Michael Barratt, and the royal responded with a gratitude letter expressing “how touched she is by the contents and by his profound words and in particular relating to his sentiments of self-knowledge and moving on in life.”

“She hopes the Panorama interview will help other women in similar difficulties, and she looks forward to the future and sharing with and teaching William and Harry the importance of communication on a deeper level.”

According to the official summary of the letter, the princess thanks her “very deeply” and concludes the message “With my best wishes, Yours sincerely, Diana” in a letter with the original envelope with a handwritten name and personalized Kensington Palace stationery.
