Prince Harry claims he did not want a royal role after Princess Diana’s passing

Prince Harry opens up about his experience with grief at the age of 12

During Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s visit to Australia, the royal member claims he did not want a royal role after Princess Diana‘s passing and how this changed over the years and maturity.

On April 16th, the Duke of Sussex gave a 19-minute speech at the InterEdge Summit event, where he commented on his mental health and his experience with grief after losing his mother, Princess Diana, at the age of 12.

Prince Harry revealed that when he struggled with the death and grief of his mother, Princess Diana, he felt alienated from his destiny in the monarchy: “I was like, ‘I don’t want this job. I don’t want this role—wherever this is headed, I don’t like it,” and explained his thoughts:

“It killed my mum and I was very much against it, and I stuck my head in the sand for years and years.”

Later, he realized the importance of this platform’s questioning about how to use this ability and the resources he was raised with to make a difference in the world by helping others; “And also, what would my mum want me to do? And that really changed my own perspective.”

King Charles III’s son concluded his speech, claiming that becoming a husband and father helped him in finding his real purpose, as he said, “When a parent is overwhelmed, children feel it. When someone is supported, families feel it.”
