Recent reports revealed Princess Diana was preparing her second son, Prince Harry, to be king, according to her friend, who shared all her feelings in a recent interview.

On March 11, the princess’ confidante and friend, the veteran royal writer Richard Kay, attended the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast, where he talked about the late royal’s feelings on Prince William‘s shyness and reticent reaction about his future royal role.

“Certainly, when his mother was still alive, she would tell me that she never really thought that William wanted the ‘top job,’ as she called it. The idea that he would one day wear the crown.”

“She, in her mind, was preparing the way for the possibility that it would be Harry who succeeded his father,” he said and continued revealing that “she had a nickname for Harry: she used to call him ‘Good King Harry’—a throwback to medieval days.”

Richard Kay made evident that the former wife of King Charles III was dedicated to preparing her two children for their future royal life, and he concluded by saying, “Things haven’t worked out like that, and I think we are all rather grateful that they haven’t.”
