During a recent visit to the community swimming pool in the town of Birtley, Prince William revealed that he missed the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in order to protect his wife Kate Middleton and not affect her chemotherapy treatment.
Prince William met the British Olympic athletes Tom Dean and Adam Peaty during the visit to the swimming pool, and while chatting with them, the Prince of Wales revealed that he had intended to be present in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, but a piece of news made him change his mind.
“I was so keen to come but I have to say after reading someone’s interview about COVID I decided, because my wife was obviously having chemo, that I didn’t want to risk bringing COVID home“, said the future king, making it clear that despite being passionate about sport, his priority will always be the welfare of his family.
Despite not being present at the sporting event, William assured, “But we watched the whole thing. We were glued to it every day“, making it evident that, as well as many British citizens, the Prince and Princess of Wales supported the Olympic team from home.
