Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they are arriving one more time on Netflix with two non-fictional shows. The Prince already is stirring up tensions with the royal followers because of the elite world of professional polo, which might end up in a bigger controversy.
On April 17, the royal correspondent, Jack Royston guested in the panel discussion on UK’s Sky News. He was asked how the Duke of Sussex’s new show might be received by the general public after the release of the bombshell, “Harry & Meghan.”
He explained the elite and privileged world of international polo as a premise could directly send Harry into reverse. The comment relies on the social pursuits associated with the Royal Family from which he stepped down in 2020.
“Polo is a big part of the royal family’s way of doing things. They all play polo. “But its quite different to the direction they took themselves in when they first came to America, which was all about appealing to young progressives who are quite anti-rich and anti-elite. Polo is a very elite sport. So, it could create a little bit of tension within the fanbase.”
Prince Harry’s new show is going to face several challenges to success in the streaming era. He needs to move the feud with the Royal Family away from his business to achieve something significant with the giant streaming platform.
