In one of the episodes of his new Netflix documentary, Prince Harry said that his family also did not understand that his future wife needed protection from racist attacks. The series and the controversy over the right of reply reveal the extent to which relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family have broken down.
A source close to the royal family told the English newspaper The Mirror that the lack of communication between William and Harry seen in the production: “sadly shows that the gulf between the two brothers could not be wider.”
The documentary series would only make this rift bigger. They had already had friction in 2019 over interviews and media products that Harry and Meghan had done, which apparently were not to the liking of either Prince William or Kate, so this new project represents a complete break, at least for now.

Meghan and Harry have today used their $100 million deal with Netflix to speak out about what they believe the Royal Family has done wrong, in the first episode it began with a direct attack on Buckingham Palace, with an on-screen statement saying “Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content of this series.”
However, hours after the airing of the first three episodes, royal officials in London insisted they had never been asked to respond. Although the Kensington Palace team, which works for Prince William and Kate, clarified that they had received an email from a production company about the Harry and Meghan documentary on Netflix, without elaborating.
The series appears at a crucial time for the monarchy, as King Charles III tries to prove that the institution still has a role after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, whose personal popularity tempered criticism of the crown during her 70 years on the throne.
