Prince Harry has become the talk of the town after he met with the Angolan president this week during a surprise trip to raise awareness about land mines. This is a complete reminiscence of Princess Diana’s trip in 1977 to Angola.
On July 14, the Duke of Sussex had a meeting with Angola’s President João Lourenço, reaffirming his support for HALO Trust, which has cleared mines in Angola since 1994. The president even mentioned his intentions to extend the contract with the organization for another three years.

Prince Harry took up the patronage of HALO following his mother’s passing. Since then, the Prince has been following Diana’s steps, and he even recreated many of her famous photos during his first trip to the Angolan minefields in 2019. This is not just the first time that the Prince has shown his commitment despite not being a royal member anymore.
Read the statement from HALO Trust CEO James Cowan as President Lourenço, alongside Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, today reaffirmed his “extraordinary dedication to and investment in the vision of a mine-free #Angola.
