The British legal system has ruled that Prince Harry will be absolutely prohibited from paying for his own security and protection while he is in the nation. Earlier today, in the middle of a court hearing in the High Court in London, this was decided.

After a UK court yesterday affirmed the British government’s refusal to let the prince pay out of his own money for the costs of police custody, Prince Harry has suffered another setback from his country.

As is well-known, in 2020 Harry and his wife, former American actress Meghan Markle, renounced their responsibilities as members of the British royal family, leaving Buckingham Palace and ceasing to be eligible for any of the privileges that come with being a member of the aristocracy. One of those advantages was the security and protection they got, which they no longer have and for which the Duke of Sussex has been footing the bill each time he has visited the country.

Now, though, the law of his country is barring him from taking that step once more because “it would not be convenient” for powerful people to commandeer security forces as they see fit in exchange for cash. The prince asserted that he could pay for the “special police services” himself and questioned both the legitimacy of the panel that made the decision and the content of the directive, according to the BBC.

The Interior Ministry had already issued a warning about the dangers of enabling wealthy persons to “buy” the deployment of the Police for purposes of personal safety; as a result, the son of King Charles III will now be categorically prohibited from hiring police security.

In light of this circumstance, Prince Harry and his legal counsel are anticipated to make a comment.
