Prince Harry had the spotlight all week during the UN Climate Week 2024 because he showed his passion for some projects, including mental health, environmental, and the dangers of social media. On top of that, he also wanted to talk about his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet by sharing what’s terrifying about becoming a parent.
On September 24, the Duke of Sussex took over the stage to talk about sustainable travel and how parenthood has heightened his concern for environmental issues. The Prince explained that kids born in 2020 are experiencing eight times the number of heatwaves, the number of droughts, and river floods than a person born in 1960. He continued by stating these statistics made him reflect on Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“As a father of two, that’s absolutely terrifying.”
Prince Harry also told the audience how his children gave him a greater drive to make a change at a reception for The HALO Trust, a landmine clearance charity that Princess Diana supported a lot in 1997.
“In those five years, I’ve become a father for the second time. And while you don’t need children to have a stake in the future of our planet, I do know that my mother would have been horrified that anyone’s children or grandchildren would live in a world still infested with mines.”
