Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have constantly been in the spotlight over the past few years for all the wrong reasons. Since leaving the Royal Family in 2020, they have been at the center of several controversies due to their harsh comments about the monarchy which led to King Charles III asking them to abandon their residence in the United Kingdom.
A few months ago, Buckingham Palace demanded that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leave Frogmore Cottage. The residence is a historic Grade II mansion in Windsor that covers an area of 4300 square feet and which was given to the controversial couple as a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2018.
Despite this, King Charles III decided to evict Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from Frogmore Cottage shortly after his mother passed away. Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the Privy Purse, told Sky News on June 29 that Meghan and Harry had agreed to comply with the King’s orders and abandoned the residence: “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage.”
According to several British media outlets, King Charles III’s initial plan was to ask Prince Andrew to move to Frogmore Cottage in order to let Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children live in the Royal Lodge, which is where Andrew currently lives. However, no further information has been revealed at the moment.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially abandoning Frogmore Cottage is the ultimate proof that their ties with the Royal Family are cut and it is unlikely that there will be a reconciliation soon as both parties are refusing to admit their mistakes.
