Growing up royal
Prince George is officially entering his main character era. The young royal turns 13 in July 2026, and the world is watching closely because he will start secondary school! The future king of England is about to swap childhood moments for homework, uniforms, and possibly a new boarding life. Many of us remember the emotional rollercoaster of starting “big school,” and Royal Editor Hannah Furness said it best on the Right Royal Podcast, expressing that this will be a moment of transition for both George and his family.

What school will Prince George attend?
While Prince George currently lives at home, things were different for his father, Prince William, who began boarding at Ludgrove School at age eight. The million-dollar question is where George will study as he turns 13. Royal insiders like Ainhoa Barcelona believe the top contenders are Eton College in Windsor, where William and Prince Harry studied, or Marlborough College in Berkshire, where Princess Kate Middleton once walked the halls. The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly taking their time because once the name drops, every spotlight and paparazzi will be going to that school.
Keeping things on the low
Melanie Sanderson from The Good Schools Guide shared that the Wales family wants Prince George’s transition to feel human and not like a global press moment. Once they choose between the two schools, they plan to reveal the chosen one as late as possible to give their son space to blend in like a normal teenager.
“[The Waleses] understand that the school itself, as well as George’s new peer group, will fall under intense scrutiny as soon as it is revealed and will probably want to minimise this, allowing the young royal to transition to his new school with as little fanfare as possible.”
Well, as normal as it gets when your future job title is King of England!
