NewJeans has officially rebranded as NJZ, and they’re wasting no time making moves! On February 7, 2025, the group took to Instagram to announce their new name and reveal that they will be dropping a new song in March. This would mark their first comeback since May 2024, as well as their first release under the NJZ name.

The sudden rebrand follows their contract dispute with HYBE’s ADOR, which led to a legal battle. The members have since appointed Shin & Kim LLC (Sejong) as their legal representatives, accusing their former agency of spreading false rumors and attempting to manipulate them by secretly approaching their parents. In addition, they are taking things to court on April 3 to address contract breaches and mismanagement.

As part of the rebranding, the group changed their social media handle to @njz_official, replacing their previous account @jeanzforfree, which they created without HYBE’s ADOR permission and control. While the NJZ’s legal showdown with their former company is still ongoing, they seem firm in wanting to start a new era and return to music.
