Nicki Minaj has officially left Instagram, and fans are trying to find out the reasons why. Just days after appearing at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix on December 21, 2025, the rapper pulled the plug on her account. At the event, Nicki Minaj walked out hand in hand with Erika Kirk, known for being the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September. The two women closed the conference, taking a seat for a conversation that quickly turned into headlines. 
Nicki Minaj expresses her support for Donald Trump
During their chat, Erika asked Nicki Minaj what she took away from Donald Trump’s administration. She said she admired Trump because he gave people hope. Then, the “Super Bass” rapper aimed jabs at California Governor Gavin Newsom, called Trump “handsome” and a role model, and even praised Vice President JD Vance.
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president. I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope,” Nicki Minaj revealed.
Another viral moment came when she accidentally referred to Vance as “the assassin” before freezing and covering her mouth, realizing she said it in front of Charlie’s widow. Erika brushed it off calmly, saying she had heard it all before.
Social media backlash and Nicki Minaj’s right-wing switch
After deactivating her Instagram, Nicki Minaj has taken to X to express all of her political beliefs. Her turn to the right-wing and MAGA systems sparked backlash and criticism from her fanbase and the music industry. However, the rapper remains completely unbothered by the negative response her political shift has had. he same day as the convention, she reposted a video where Erika asked how she handles backlash from her own industry. Nicki simply replied she “didn’t notice” and captioned her post, “Didn’t have a clue. Carry on.”

This political turn comes after years of Nicki Minaj publicly aligning with the liberals and the Democratic Party. Back in 2016, she released a freestyle remix the same month Trump was elected to his first term as president. “Island girl, Donald Trump want me go home,” she rapped on “Black Barbies,” a freestyle remix of Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.” In 2020, Nicki declared that she was “not gonna jump on the Trump bandwagon” at the Pollstar Live 2020 Conference and criticised him for his immigration policies and taking children away from their parents.
