Despite the great success of ‘Game of Thrones‘, many new productions have been released, and among them is a Netflix Chinese fantasy series that’s superior to the medieval story due to the similarities and the captivating cultural details.

The Longest Promise‘ was released in July 2023 and has only one season with 40 episodes in total. This drama follows the story of the banished prince Shi Ying, starring the actor Xiao Zhan, who was accused of the murder of his father’s consort, so he was left dead.

Despite his bad fortune, the man was rescued by the princess Zhu Yan, starring the actress Ren Min, who decided to resurrect him with a powerful and difficult spell. In particular, this part of the story reminds viewers of the ‘Game of Thrones’ production.

This relationship with the series is due to the resurrection of Jon Snow, starring the actor Kit Harington, in the medieval production, which allowed the story of Westeros and the war against the white walkers and their king to undergo a radical change.

The HBO series has eight seasons in total, so if you want to watch a fantasy short story with resurrection scenes, the Chinese production ‘The Longest Promise’ could be a good option, as it has also been acclaim by critics, who say it is superior in terms of story and quality.
