At a ceremony in Paris, France, Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or, making him the best player in the world, according to France Football magazine. The Argentine was chosen by the jury and specialists over Erling Haaland.
“The Argentinians say it. It makes a part, but it’s hard to say that Messi is better than (Cristiano) Ronaldo or Mbappé, who is younger. They are players who have marked the history of world soccer,” Didier responded to a question from an Argentine journalist at the gala.
In his 19-year career, Messi has won his eighth Ballon d’Or, which puts him at the top of the list with three more trophies than Cristiano Ronaldo (5) and five more than Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten (3).
