Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently sat down with Jane Pauley for their first joint interview in years. Their convo aired on “CBS Sunday Morning,” and it marks the first time the royal pair publically opened up to the media since their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021. During their conversation, the duo discussed a new initiative called “The Parents Network” made to support parents and children who have been impacted by social media use. Check out the interview here:

As the interview unfolded, Meghan Markle decided to reveal her own struggles with thoughts of taking her own life and self-harm. The Duchess of Sussex, who has been vocal about bullying and abuse on social media, told the interviewer that she found parallels between her experience and children’s situation with the dangers they can find on the Internet.

“When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be really open about. I really scraped the surface on my experience, but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way.”

The Parents Network initiative and their latest campaign “No Child Lost to Social Media,” seeks to provide support for parents and children dealing with grief or mental health issues deriving from traumatic online experiences. With this work, Meghan Markle wants to “encourage” people to check in on their loved ones to see if they’re really okay.
