The BAFTA awards were celebrated on February 22, 2026, at The Royal Festival Hall in London. At first glance, “Marty Supreme” was one of the favorites of the night as they racked up eleven nominations. However, the higher they fly, the harder they fall.
Josh Safdie’s sports dramedy “Marty Supreme” left this year’s BAFTA ceremony with an unwelcome distinction. The film was nominated for best film, director, leading actor (Chalamet), supporting actress (Odessa A’zion), casting, original screenplay, production design, cinematography, costume design, film editing, and makeup and hairstyling. Unfortunately, the film tied the record for most losses in a single night after going 0-for-11.

The A24 film contender joined “Women In Love (1969)” and “Finding Neverland (2004)” as the only films to go winless with eleven nominations. Despite “Marty Supreme” remaining formidable in the wider awards conversation, there’s no doubt that this huge miss will be noticed by the movie industry.
The most shocking moment of the night happened just after Timothée Chalamet lost to Robert Aramayo from Kirk Jones’ Tourette’s drama movie, “I Swear.” The film still has hopes in the Oscars, where it is nominated for nine awards.
