Martin Scorsese has been consecrated as one of the best movie directors of all time after he directed classics such as “The Wolf of Wall Street”, “Casino” and “Taxi Driver.” This time around, the director has shown he can step up in the game again with “Killers of the Flower Moon” which debuts at first place globally.

There were several predictions about which spot was Scorsese’s movie going to debut at, because of Taylor Swift’s tour movie, “The Eras Tour Film,” which has devoured the competition. “Killer of the Flower Moon” was resilient and debuted at the top globally, however, the movie didn’t have the same luck in The United States.

Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” debuts at the number 1 spot globally

Killers of the Flower Moon” debuted at the second spot domestically after a 23 million dollar opening weekend, just behind Taylor Swift who held the top spot in North America for a second week in a row with 31 million dollars. On the other hand, Scorsese had a much better debut when taking into account the international markets as his film grossed 44 million dollars globally, which was enough to surpass Taylor’s Hurricane as “The Eras Tour” only grossed 41.5 million dollars globally this weekend.

The three-and-a-half-hour phenomenal movie is based on David Grann’s bestselling book, which tells the story of the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation. Scorsese had a convo with NME where he revealed he wanted to produce this movie because he got stuck in the story and subsequently, decided to make it in Oklahoma where the real events took place.

Undoubtedly, the solid debut from “Killers of the Flower Moon” keeps demonstrating Martin Scorsese’s undeniable talent to move the masses to watch his new emotional movie. In addition, the director shows he is still capable of making timeless classics for the next generations.
