Italian rock sensation Måneskin has been working on his new album in a town in the town of Garlasco. And one afternoon in July, the quartet took a break from recording to interview Billboard and pose for a photoshoot.

Since the De Angelis quartet, vocalist Damiano David, guitarist Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio took home first prize at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with “Zitti e Buoni” the single has gone up to 22nd place on the world chart.

Meanwhile, her latest outrageous single “I Wanna Be Your Slave” proved even more explosive, rocketing to number 13rd on the charts for a music video that flexes gender and inclusive sexual positivity. However, it is not any of these new songs, both included in the album “Teatre d’ira: Vol. 1“, that became the group’s biggest worldwide success or even the only song that placed them on the Billboard. Hot 100

The honor belongs to a version titled “Beggin’“, originally recorded in 1966 by the band Four Seasons. It unexpectedly went viral on TikTok and peaked at # 2 on the Billboard Global Chart and # 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The cover of “Beggin’” dates back to Måneskin’s participation in the Italian version of the reality show “The X Factor” in 2017. The quartet’s agile performance was well received by audiences. “It was our first standing ovation” recalls Damiano. The song got stuck in their catalog and appeared on their debut EP, “Chosen” released by Sony Latin later that year.

While the quartet is grateful for all the worldwide success and the new fans they have gained, they are a little wary that “Beggin’” is the song that will take them to the top. There are no more plans to promote it. The focus now is the recently released “I Wanna Be Your Slave”, which this Friday, August 6, will be reissued with Iggy Pop.

Right now, the band is working on new songs and they admit “They represent us better than that song released four years ago” Damiano guarantees.

Right now, we are focused on ensuring that ‘Slave’ continues its upward trajectory and repeats # 1 on broadcasts like ‘Beggin” says Vinikoor.
