The Idol is the new HBO series that tells us about showbiz from the inside and it has been much talked about due to The Weekend’s participation and of course, all the +18 scenes found in the series, which Lily-Rose Depp staunchly defends.
“I was very excited to do it,” the actress defended, through her point of view, the series, where she assures that they are just performances, and that she “never felt more safe and respected” while filming the scenes, of which were pointed out as recordings of an adult sadomasochistic series.
The series was created by the same screenwriter of Euphoria, Sam Levinson, where they show several scenes of the actors touching each other in a morbid way, especially the character played by Lily-Rose Depp, who has to maintain an abhorrent and toxic romance with the sickly cult leader Tedros, played by ‘The Weeknd’.
Scenes that include revenge sex, adultery, self-harm, hallucinogen consumption, hanging and masturbation, even knives and threats, all of this has caused its screenwriters and creators to be labeled as “insane sick people”. The actress defended her scenes and this she revealed to Vogue Australia, where she said that the sex scenes were “intentional and important” and that this made her more excited to star in the series. “I never had the interest in doing something puritanical. It’s okay if the series is for a few, and that’s fine; I think the best art is polarizing. Honestly, I’ve never felt more respected and confident in a role.” commented the actress.
