Kpop Demon Hunters had an amazing run in the awards season, taking home the Golden Globes, Grammys, and now, an Oscar. Despite the euphoria of EJAE, “ GOLDEN,” songwriter and singer, becoming the first Kpop act to win the category ever, the Academy disappointed the audience in how she was treated during her speech.

Kpop Demon Hunters “GOLDEN” took the Oscar for Best Original Song at the ceremony. EJAE was visibly moved as she walked to the stage to receive the award, and she had so many things to say. However, her speech was abruptly cut off.

E! News reported that EJAE would have said to close out the historic moment, admitting she had a few special people they hoped to acknowledge before the orchestra started up, putting an end to the “GOLDEN” team’s time on stage.

“I didn’t get to because they just cut us off, but I wanted to thank Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna. They killed it with their singing, and they’re just incredible people, and I love them so much.”
