Korean netizens are not staying quiet about accusations of criticizing BLACKPINK’s Jennie. They have taken to social media to respond to claims made by international internet fans, who affirm that they have negatively talked about Jennie after her appearance at the 2026 Golden Disc Awards on January 10, 2026.
The controversy began when a social media user posted that Koreans were calling Jennie arrogant and unimpressive at the music event. This happened after a video of the BLACKPINK member started circulating online, in which she was seemingly tired and sleepy after performing. The message spread quickly and gained more than six million views, leading many to believe that Korean audiences were upset.

However, the post soon drew serious objections from Korean users. They explained that the negative reactions described online did not exist in major Korean communities. These users criticized some international fans and stated that the supposed backlash was completely invented. Many Koreans questioned why people outside the country repeatedly claim to speak on behalf of Korean fans without actual evidence.
“What’s so evil about this account is that they all start with “Korean netizens blah blah” and create a narrative that hates on Jennie or BP. Koerns absolutely loves Jennie’s performance and her ideas. You guys are the ones f*cking covering your ears and eyes just to curse at Jennie. Why are you bringing Koreans into this, you f*cker?”

South Korean Jennie fans also pointed out that she is widely respected in Korea and is known as a national star. They expressed frustration that many international users make up criticism to justify arguments and promote hate against KPop artists.
Some foreign fans weaponize Korean netizens just to hate on idols they don’t like.
The truth is, most Koreans like Jennie.
