King Charles III’s coronation is going to take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. This is the first time a ceremony like this is held since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation 70 years ago. Charles and Camilla Parker are going to become the monarchs of the United Kingdom in front of more than 2000 attendees.
Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace revealed the guest list and all the attendees must confirm their attendance before the week ends. Surprisingly, Prince Harry’s attendance was confirmed but he will go on his own and won’t be accompanied by Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex is going to stay in California with her two children.
King Charles III admitted to The Sun that he was disappointed by Meghan’s decision because he never thought that she would decide to ignore his invitation and don’t attend such an important event for the royal family and the United Kingdom.
Meghan’s decision involved her priorities and the well-being of her family. According to a source close to the former actress, “They had to take a decision which feels authentic and genuine, particularly after everything was said and done.”
Even though it has been said that Buckingham Palace is trying to discredit Meghan, it was overlooked that Prince Archie’s birthday is on the same day as King Charles III’s coronation ceremony. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are deeply disappointed by this as Harry won’t be with his son during this important day. However, he wants to make things right and he knows that attending the event is the first step to reconciling with his family.
