During a recent interview, KATSEYE‘s Manon opens up about the unfair ‘lazy’ reputation the internet has given her after their group dynamic was revealed from the ‘Pop Star Academy’ reality show where they were formed.
In conversation with THE CUT, they talked about the perception this show generates among fans who had the idea that Manon was “lazy” and “selfish,” due to showing moments she missed practice or other events with the girl group.
Manon explained it was due to the work-life balance difference: “America has a very different culture when it comes to work-life balance. You guys are all about grind and hustle. In Switzerland, if you’re sick, you take a day off. No one’s going to expect you to work.”

Other had opposite opinions: “Girl it has nothing to do with being black theres always a weak dancer in groups and it just happened to be u 🤷♀️,” “You’re just lazy and it has nothing to do with your race,” “unfair reputation? u literally missed out on a lot of practices on dream academy even though u were the most unskilled there. the only reason u won is because you were pretty.”
