Global girl group KATSEYE is speaking out about the darker side of fame. In a BBC interview released on November 12, 2025, the girl group revealed that they have gone through thousands of death threats and racist attacks since their debut. Member Lara shared that the online abuse became overwhelming, saying that even trying to ignore it eventually felt impossible.

According to Lara, someone even filed a false immigration report against her, while others posted sexist comments that rated their looks and performances like a cruel game. The mental toll forced her to delete her social media accounts to protect her peace. Fellow member Manon described the experience as a form of “psychological assault,” while Sophia said it affected not only them but also their families.

“Someone even filed a false report to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), claiming I was living and working illegally in the country,” Lara revealed.

“Our career is still short, but so many harsh words have already been thrown at us and our families. We know it’s part of being in the public eye, but we’re still human,” Sophia revealed.

Still, KATSEYE continues to work and rise. The artists recently earned two Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their viral hit “Gabriella.” The interview ended on a more positive note, with Manon expressing pride in the group’s multicultural background, while  Lara encouraged aspiring artists to embrace their heritage with confidence.
