Kate Middleton and Prince William are back on schedule after mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II. A few weeks ago, the couple visited Northern Ireland, their first official trip as the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
When a crowd was watching the visit of the members of the royal family, Kate Middleton approached to salute a group of women, in that brief moment she suffered an aggression from an Irish nationalist.
The uncomfortable moment occurred on the streets of Marine Highway in the Carrickfergus community of Belfast. After interacting with the women, one of them, greeted the princess and made an awkward comment to the British crown.

“Nice to meet you, but it would be better if it was when you were in your own country,” the woman is heard saying in a video broadcast of the moment. “Ireland belongs to the Irish,” she added. The video also shows how the woman holds Kate’s hand tightly, and releases it disdainfully, while still recording what happened with her cell phone.

Despite the situation, Middleton did not stop smiling, and after greeting the woman, she took the hand of another in a friendly way, and withdrew. The serene reaction of the new Princess of Wales has been applauded on social networks, as her followers believe that being polite was the best way to keep the moment under control.
Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom along with England, Scotland and Wales. The town of Carrickfergus, where the incident took place, is in a predominantly nationalist area. Ireland and Great Britain were one country until 1920.
After a long and bloody struggle for independence, the island was divided into Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland.
