During Kate Middleton‘s first solo royal engagement, she shared her rule for playing rugby with Prince George at home, making supporters laugh with her honesty and funny personality.
On January 15th, the Princess of Wales hosted a reception for England’s Women’s Rugby team at Windsor Castle to celebrate the team’s World Cup win in September 2025, where she made this unexpected family revelation.

According to Rebecca English of the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton was talking about how it is not necessary to pigeonhole boys and girls into particular sports too early and continued making reference to playing rugby with his oldest son.
“Obviously, as they get physically stronger… George, now, if I play at home, I do not want to get tackled by George! But no, up to a certain age it’s great. Sports like swimming at school are very much co-ed,” said the princess.
Kate finally said that her daughter also plays with them: “Charlotte is playing rugby but at home with the family, so she isn’t yet at school” and even his youngest son “Louis is playing touch rugby, and it’s such a great game”.
