Joshua Bassett was in the eye of the hurricane in 2021 and garnered a lot of media attention following the success of Olivia Rodrigo‘s “drivers license” song that allegedly describes a relationship with her casting partner.

Earlier this year, the actor had to be rushed to the ICU due to heart failure. In an interview with the radio program Zach Sang, he related the frightening episode and attributed the problem to the stress experienced in the months before the crisis.

He says he went so far as to call his doctor and say he was about to have a heart attack.

The professional recommended that he only rest due to his history of anxiety.

I lay down and after five minutes I was like ‘no, I’m not fine’ I was filming HSM at the time, so I called the production and said ‘I don’t want to be dramatic, but I’m having a heart attack’”, Joshua said.

The actor said the production sent a car to take him to the hospital. After some tests, doctors warned that he was the sickest patient in the hospital and that he had only a 30% chance of surviving if he had not been admitted to the ICU.

The musician, who was about to release the single “Lie, Lie, Lie”, told how he had to concentrate on getting better and recovering.

I couldn’t worry about other things, I couldn’t think about what people were saying. I couldn’t worry about anything other than getting better”, reported the artist.

In other related news, Joshua commented on the responsibility of artists to their fans and how he reacts to false news.

I answer these things because that’s the only way to really go and then when people were spreading misinformation”, said the HMS star.

I think a lot of times people are like ‘well, don’t blame the artists, blame your fans,’ but I think we should really look at how responsible you are as an artist for what conversations happen around your art. And I think, obviously, you can’t control it all, but for the people who admire you and support you, respect you, hopefully, that shouldn’t be underestimated“, he said
