Through an interview on ‘Suchwita’ program which is aired on Youtube platform, IU revealed that she wanted to make a song with RM from BTS before collaborating with Suga in ‘Eight‘, the South Korean singer confirmed that her real intention in approaching the host of the program was to get the band’s leader’s contact.
Fortunately for Lee Ji-eun, the goals were achieved and she got RM’s contact thanks to Suga, yet she never contacted the BTS leader as she didn’t have the courage to do so, the singer was going through a very tragic time in her life after the death of Sulli and Jonghyun.

The best way to let off steam was through music, so she focused on making songs that expressed her pain, IU felt that collaborating with someone her age who could understand her feelings would make the creation process easier, so she changed her initial decision to collaborate with RM and set out to create a song with suga, the result was ‘Eight’.
IU explained; “It would have been really difficult to record with RM, because mentally I wasn’t in the best place“, however fans hope that in the near future, this meeting between these great K-Pop stars will finally happen, but currently all the members of BTS are in military service, so we have to wait.
