HYBE demands that BTS’s “Red” theme not be interpreted politically

BTS’ comeback with “ARIRANG” has become one of the most talked-about topics online in the past few weeks. As the idols create anticipation over the release of the album, the red concept might be controversial for some K-Netizens.

On March 18, BigHit Music, BTS’s music agency, stated that the red color featured in the upcoming event at Gwanghwamun Square exclusively reflects the key visual theme for “ARIRANG,” and it’s purely artistic, aligning with the album concept rather than any other interpretation.

However, the color decision has sparked criticism among some fans, as they argue that BTS and their fanbase are traditionally associated with the color purple. In addition, they emphasized that red may carry unintended political connotations.

HYBE has been pretty vocal about it, reiterating that the red color is solely tied to the album’s visual identity and urged the public not to interpret with political senses. There might be some controversy as the performance approaches on March 21.
