Gyeongbokgung will close to regular visitors on March 21, 2026, due to BTS’s comeback live event titled “ARIRANG.” This historic palace, one of South Korea’s most important landmarks, will not allow ordinary entry that day, as BTS will be taking over the venue with their new musical project. The live show is scheduled for 8 PM KST at Gwanghwamun Square, located directly in front of the palace. Authorities expect approximately 260,000 ARMYs (that is the BTS fandom name) to attend the large-scale outdoor event.

To manage safety and crowd control, nearby institutions will also suspend operations. In addition, the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will also close. Similarly, planned activities taking place in these places will be either canceled or rescheduled. Officials have taken these steps to prepare for the high number of expected visitors in the area.

Reports indicate that the performance will include scenes featuring Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun. According to filming requests submitted to the National Heritage Service, BTS members will walk through the three gates of Gwanghwamun before heading to the main stage during the opening sequence. The event will be streamed live to viewers around the world exclusively on Netflix, marking the first Korea-based live event broadcast globally on the platform and the first one of its kind taking place at Gwanghwamun Square.
