G-Dragon just reminded everyone why he’s considered a K-pop legend. Thanks to two sold-out nights at the Taipei Dome, he became the first Korean idol ever to fill the 40,000-seat arena twice, drawing a jaw-dropping 80,000 fans total in Taiwan. The shows, part of his Übermensch Tour, sold out within minutes, proving he’s still holding the king’s crown in K-pop, nearly twenty years since the start of his career.
The rapper and singer owned the night with classics like Crooked and Untitled, 2014, to his newer songs on the Übermensch album. The staging was paired with electrifying visuals and cinematic effects, and local media called the moment “a cultural event of historic scale.” Beyond the music, the concerts boosted Taipei’s economy, spiking hotel bookings and citywide buzz.
With over 700,000 fans attending this world tour as a whole, G-Dragon just broke his own record from 2017’s Act III: M.O.T.T.E tour. It also sets a standard for South Korean acts performing overseas, due to his back-to-back sellout shows in Taiwan. With new fans and long-time supporters alike, G-Dragon proved that he’s an icon that can cross over all generations of K-pop.
