Former BIGBANG rapper T.O.P might be ready to reclaim the spotlight. On July 23, 2025, reports surfaced that he’s discussing a solo comeback with CJ ENM, one of Korea’s entertainment companies. An insider claims a new album is in the works for the second half of 2025, which would be T.O.P’s first solo release in over a decade. His last was “Doom Dada” in 2013.

T.O.P has been operating independently since leaving YG Entertainment in 2022 and officially confirming his exit from BIGBANG in 2023. In addition, he had kept a relatively low profile following his 2017 marijuana controversy. But things got exciting again when he landed a role as Thanos in Netflix’s Squid Game seasons 2 and 3. His return drew mixed reactions from South Korean viewers, but received positive feedback from Western audiences. Most importantly, it began the buzz about a return to form for the rapper.

CJ ENM has denied any official contract talks, but the buzz is loud. If the deal happens, it could mark a new chapter for T.O.P’s career. CJ ENM manages artists through several sub-labels, though it’s unclear where he might land. Either way, his fans are watching closely, hoping this really is the comeback they’ve been waiting for.
