EXO’s Kai is currently in the eye of the hurricane for his latest actions in a new YouTube video. The idol was sent immediately to the scrutiny of the K-Netizens for his “inappropriate” use of emojis with his close ones.
New behind-the-scenes footage from Kai’s solo tour, “KAION” was released. The idol is seen sending messages to fans on Bubble, with his phone screen momentarily visible to the cameras. The most eagle-eyed fans shared a screenshot of the clip on different Online communities to show off his keyboard, which displays the emojis he’s used most recently.

The emoji that brought the controversy included the “Man Gesturing OK” emoji, including all in different skin tone variations; he used the light, medium, and dark skin tone options. Despite the screenshot seeming innocuous, the emojis quickly sparked a heated debate among the K-Netizens.
Some K-Netizens explained that Kai appropriated the icon as a way to seem trendy or funny despite not being part of the Black community. However, other fans argued that Kai has used multiple variations of the same emoji, without taking any of these in particular in a funny way. EXO’s Kai has still not cleared the air on the ongoing drama. Stay tuned for further news.
