The boys have earned respect and recognition, gathering a larger audience, particularly from BTS’ fans, better known as ARMY. This time, the “I NEED U” cover released by the boy band was the perfect tribute for BTS and ARMY.
“I NEED U” is one of the most personal and emotional tracks from BTS, which served as the lead single of their third EP, “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1.” The ballad marked the compass of the iconic trajectory of the boy band, who have inspired numerous Kpop groups, including ENHYPEN.
Spotify’s K-Pop ON! Playlist turns 10 this year, and ENHYPEN knew how to deliver a great performance to commemorate this milestone. They were invited to decipher the meaning of this song and why they chose it in the first place.
“We covered BTS Sunbaenim’s song. This was the first time for producer [and HYBE chairperson] Bang Si-Hyuk to approve this creation of the rendition, and he participated in the process as well so it was a great honor for us to have him on board. This is different from our regular songs so please look forward to it.”
In addition, ENHYPEN was asked how they felt after having the opportunity to perform a rendition of BTS’ “I NEED U.” They all agreed, this song was the start of numerous careers inside the Kpop scene.
“This song was the start for me to dream of the things I’m doing now: becoming a Kpop artist and meeting our fans, performing on stage. Everything started with this one song for me so I’m excited, grateful, and honored to have this amazing opportunity, and we want to thank our fans who made this [happen] for us.”
