Dua Lipa recently came back to the spotlight with some fresh music. This pop queen kicked off her new music era by releasing the massive bop “Houdini.” This 80s-inspired track is already a chart-topper, earning her the second spot in the UK (predictions estimate it’ll go to number one next week).

Now, Dua Lipa is all about that artistry and songwriting vibe, and she recently spilled the tea on the creation process of Houdini. The pop sensation sat down with Rolling Stone and opened up about how this track came to be.

So, here’s the story: Dua Lipa got together with 3 writers and producers, she’s super comfy vibing with. One of Dua’s producers, Kevin, played a beat on his computer while doing some testing. As soon as our girl Dua heard that melody, she was totally blown away and ended up making it the intro of the song.

Then, the singer explained to fans that the “essence of the song came together in the first two hours of writing.” She also revealed the chorus was the first thing that was done. But plot twist! The track was far from being complete at that moment. The “Dance the Night” crooner admitted that they had to revisit the song a couple of times and that there are 4 versions of it.

Now, get this tea: Dua spilled that there is an “extended mix” version, in which fans will be able to have the complete “Houdini” experience. The hitmaker said the process of making a song and having different versions of it is interesting, and so she hopes fans will get to listen to the extended track someday.
