There are some K-Pop idols who can buy cars and houses for their families, but not all K-pop groups, as Golden Child‘s Jangjun recently revealed.

I only make money from my individual activities. Like this show today“, said Jangjun.

As the boys are currently on their first tour of the United States, a pre-recorded episode of KBS‘ “The Money School” with Jangjun was released on July 3rd, where he talked about the group’s earnings and their individual earnings.

When asked if he earns any income from the group’s activities, the Golden Child member said that he does not. Despite debuting in 2017 and entering his sixth year of career, Jangjun shared that he did not receive anything the group earned from promotions. ()

Jangjun also added that his mother manages his income and works in the real estate business, which is why she is good at it.

I still haven’t taken stock of what my mother did with my earnings. But I heard in passing that something was left out, with a phrase like ‘For my son when he gets married’”, Jangjun concluded.

The revelations of the have sparked a debate as fans wonder where the band’s money goes. In the past, fans have compared record companies’ distribution of profits to agencies like SM who make 95% of profits from physical sales, while Starship Entertainment gives 80% of profits to their artists.

Though Jangjun has pointed out that he didn’t even receive a portion of the profits the group made from him, fans are confused.
