Country music diva, Dolly Parton, just (literally) spilled the tea on her almost date with Kate Middleton. Last summer, while the “I Will Always Love You” hitmaker was in London, she received an invitation from the Princess of Wales. What was it all about? A chance to have tea with royalty.
Unfortunately, she had to reject the invitation due to being busy with work. Still, she admitted feeling flattered that Kate Middleton herself even asked her to have a tea date. Sadly, there was literally no time for the country music legend to hang out like royalty. Here’s what she said:
“I only had one full day, and I did not have a second to do anything else besides work. But make sure people know I didn’t turn the invitation down, I was honoured and flattered that she even asked me.”
Now, you might think, what could possibly have these very different women together, apart from being public icons? Well, Dolly Parton and Kate Middleton share a deep-seated passion for supporting children – with Kate spearheading an Early Childhood initiative.
The singer hopes to sit down with the Princess of Wales and have tea one day, talking about early childhood initiatives. Despite having the possibility to retire like a queen on a private island, Dolly will still put in the work and, most importantly, would like to discuss their passion for helping children.
“So maybe that’s what we can talk about when we do have tea. I think she’s adorable and I hope someday to be able to sit down and have a good conversation with her.”
