Disney+ has become one of the favorite streaming platforms by users because of its innovative shows and movies. Despite numerous platforms increasing their subscription prices, this move wasn’t enough. Disney+ followed Netflix’s steps as they met success by cracking down on password-sharing, which limits who you could share your account with.

Previously, Disney+ expressed its desire to limit account sharing at its Q3 earnings call in August. Despite that they remained silent about this situation, it’s official that the streaming giant is taking its first steps to crack down on password sharing, and Canada is going to be the first country to have those restrictions.

Disney+ users in Canada received an email that explained the prohibition from sharing their subscription with others as part of its updated Subscriber Agreement starting on November 1. In addition, the email’s purpose was to detail how the streaming giant intends to limit account sharing to a household.

“we’re implementing restrictions on your ability to share your account or login credentials outside of your household”

Numerous users around the world stated that Disney’s move by cracking down on password sharing is part of promoting their new ad-supported tier, which is also going live on November 1 in Canada and Europe. It will cost 9.99 dollars per month and let you stream content to two devices simultaneously in up to Full HD resolution. You also get support for 5.1 and stereo sound. However, download content for offline viewing is missing from this tier.
