While fans were vibing, whispers of lip-syncing started swirling online, and the speculation got louder when an old Lady Gaga quote resurfaced online. Her words weirdly matched the timing of the BLACKPINK girls performing solo at the festival.
Lady Gaga has always taken pride in delivering full on live performances.

The quote? “I never lip-sync, I never have, and I never will,” Gaga declared, calling out fake vocals. But guess what? Fans quickly found out that it wasn’t a new diss aimed at Jennie or Lisa, but a throwback video from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour in 2011. At the time, BLACKPINK wasn’t even a thing yet (they debuted in 2016). Plus, Gaga and the girls collaborated on “Sour Candy” in 2020.

Bottom line: it was just a quote from the past, not a Coachella clapback at the BLACKPINK girls. Not that we can’t blame people who did believe that, after all, the signs were aligning perfectly: Gaga, Lisa, and Jennie are all Coachella-performing artists, and all three have been involved in lip-syncing controversies. But in the end, the drama wasn’t giving what it thought it was!
