Investigators say cooperation has not happened
Singer d4vd, born David Anthony Burke and currently 20, remains at the center of a deeply troubling and disturbing investigation into the death of fifteen-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. According to a police source, the suspect is “not cooperating” with investigators and has not cooperated at any stage so far. The source also states that detectives have not interviewed him, leaving major gaps in understanding what crimes he or possible accomplices may have been involved in. His representative previously told NBC Los Angeles that he was “fully cooperating,” but authorities say that is not the case.
Unanswered questions surround Celeste’s death
The investigation, which is still active, can’t advance toward charges until the Los Angeles medical examiner’s final cause of death and toxicology reports are released. Those findings are still pending, and police say they have not yet determined exactly when Celeste died, revealing only that “springtime is the closest we’ve come” to estimating the time of death.
Celeste was found on September 8, 2025, a day after her 15th birthday, inside a plastic bag in the trunk of d4vd’s impounded Tesla. The vehicle had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for at least a month, according to neighbors who reported a strong odor coming from the car. Her cause and manner of death remain officially listed as “deferred,” but investigators are treating the case as a homicide.
A complex case with disturbing details
Police sources confirm that Celeste’s body was in a state of decomposition when discovered, and a separate source previously said that the perpetrator “most likely had help dismembering and disposing of the body.” Celeste had a history of being reported missing multiple times in 2024 from Lake Elsinore; however, her final movements remain unclear.
LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams stated she had been dead for “several weeks” before being found. Authorities also executed a search warrant in September at a Hollywood Hills residence where d4vd had been staying. As the investigation continues, questions continue to rise, and police emphasize that the case is not yet resolved.
