Amid his recent legal scandal, it was reported that Cha Eunwoo hired the law firm that worked with NewJeans to handle his tax evasion allegations and is preparing legal proceedings against the tax office’s assessment.

In recent days, the Korean idol who is currently serving in the military was accused of owing ₩20.0 billion KRW, about $13.8 million USD, in taxes after being accused of tax evasion by the National Tax Service through an alleged paper company established by him and his mother.

Now, Cha Eunwoo has hired the major law firm, Sejong, which previously handled the lawsuit regarding the exclusive contract termination for the group NewJeans and is giving the idol legal assistance.

It is expected that the law firm will focus on proving that the corporation established by his mother is not a paper company but a company that actually provided services. While the agency behind the artist Fantagio also retained another major law firm, Yulchon, after they were fined ₩8.20 billion KRW (about $5.67 million USD) in additional taxes due to this issue.
