Several South Korean media channels were already speculating about the appointment of the artist as the ambassador for the excavation team since a few days ago. Big Hit Music, BTS’ management agency, finally confirmed it on May 30 and revealed that the appointment ceremony was going to be held two days later, on June 1.
The excavation team’s main duty is to retrieve the remains of the fallen soldiers in the Korean War and send them to their respective families. In RM’s case, his job is to be the ambassador of the team and the face of several promotional activities for the ministry.
His fans, the so-called ARMY, pointed out that this is a huge feat for the South Korean idol and expressed their support and joy on social media. They made sure to let RM know that they are proud of him as the fallen soldiers deserve a dignified and proper funeral after serving their country.
