There are rumors online about Jungkook, who’s 25, going to the military as soon as possible, however, the managing group and owners of the BTS brand, HYBE, admitted that they still do not have plans for six of the seven members of the group regarding the enlistment in the military service, obligatory in South Korea, their birth country. The only member of the group with the military schedule already planned would be the oldest, Jin.
In the last couple of years, the South Korean government alongside with the military leaders were discussing about a law to “rule out” singers, actors, athletes, and other important personalities from the military service, so they can skip the service as a reward for their contributions to the expansion of the Korean culture around the world. The law would be called “the BTS law” in honor of the group that initiated the motion.
However, it was confirmed that the law was not passed, as Jin is just about to enroll in the military service.
The CEO of HYBE has announced that they expect an economic downturn while BTS is in the military hiatus, and that the last member will enroll in the military in 2023, so that they can be back in 2025 to reunite the group and return to the stage, but the order has not been confirmed. Instead, what has been confirmed is that the members will promote their solo music while the others are still in the military, shutting down the rumors.
