Jin of BTS finally opened up about his feelings, at his concert in Argentina, about military service and what is the reality behind everything that has happened. The idol talked about his desire to serve the military and his plans, as well as the criticism and hate he has received for the postponement and exemption requests.

I’m going to talk a little bit about ‘Voldemort’ for us, ‘the act that must not be named,’ or military service,” Jin began.

After I wrap up this performance in Argentina, I think I’ll fill out my mandatory service forms as soon as I land in Korea.

Originally, the members and I discussed my intention to enlist shortly after the ‘BE’ album. However, that summer, with the pandemic, our song ‘Dynamite’ hit #1 on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’.

Due to their unexpected success, I couldn’t go into the military right away. We were still in the middle of a pandemic, and in order to repay the love that fans have shown us, we decided to work on ‘Butter’ and ‘Permission To Dance’.

These two songs also performed well, so it didn’t feel right to drop everything and leave the members and fans.

After ‘Permission to Dance,’ we decided that I should take part in our concerts before starting my mandatory service.

I also told the members that if I went to the army, performing on stage would be one of the things I’d miss the most. So we finished our concerts successfully, but after that we were invited to the ‘Grammys’.

So, I said: ‘Okay, I’ll go after the Grammys.’

I was supposed to enlist around May or June of this year, and the company gave me the green light. In June, we even talked about how we would temporarily end our group promotions and start solo promotions.

I had told the members that I wanted to enlist in the summer or at the latest in the fall. But then there was the Busan concert, and the members said, ‘This might be our last chance to do a concert together in Korea.

with the 7′“.

(The other members said) ‘Also, we didn’t have a real concert where we could hear the voice of our Korean fans.’ So they convinced me to wait until after the Busan concert.”

In Korea, all the members and I get a lot of hate for this whole ordeal. To be honest, there’s a small part of me that feels upset.

The only reason we didn’t announce our stance on military service was because we didn’t want to ARMY cried at our Busan concert.

But a lot of people were talking about us saying, ‘You should be exempt’ or ‘It’s your duty to serve,’ and the controversy grew. Although it made us feel bad, at least I’m glad we didn’t see our fans cry during our concert.

It paid off.” It’s worth bearing the criticism.” concluded the idol.
